TTTT: Adding Images into Forum Posts

Postby Tee » Sat Feb 21, 2009 12:59 pm

this is not a Tuesday Tut but we need it here!!! :)

SandyFeet wrote out these instructions to help new forum users know how to post a photo into a post here in the forum...

1. While in the Gallery, select my layout.
2. Right click on the layout image.
3. Select Properties.
4. In the Properties box highlight Address (URL)
5. Right cliick and select copy to copy the address.
6. In the forum message box paste the address.
7. Now select and highlight the address.
8. Click on Img above the message box.
9. Preview and voila!

back to Tee a few extra tips...
IF it is a picture that you are not loading to the gallery but still want to use...you can load it to www.photobucket.com and then use the IMG code they give you and just paste that IMG code right into the forum post...PhotoBucket does the image brackets for you so you don't need to do the steps above using that service.

I size photos between 600 and 800 width to post and see easily in forum posts.

If you have any questions or any other tips to share add them in this post and we now have one easy spot to send people to.

(((hugs)))

Thanks, Tee. I am a new forum user (newbie) and had no idea where the best place would be for this topic. Thanks for moving it where it would be useful for others.

:thanks

Instructions for Mac users...

Postby soveryme » Mon Apr 27, 2009 9:27 am

Since there isn't a right click on the apple wireless mouse I use, I decided to play around and figure out the equivalent. I was able to make it work by holding the control button (not the command or option buttons) while clicking on the image. From the menu that popped up I chose "copy image address." This is like copying the URL. Then I pasted that into my forum post. Hope this helps someone!

photo size in forum posts

Postby Rosie » Wed Jul 22, 2009 9:08 pm

I'm using the photo that is uploaded to the gallery, and in order to upload it I have to make it so tiny! And now when I use it to post to the gallery, it shows up small there too. How come eveyone else is able to get theirs a normal size? I don't think I should have to post it in photobucket too?!

Also, how do I add an image to my profile? I'm a newbie and have always avioded forums for just this reason, I can't do anything!! Thanks for your help :)

Rosie, are you re-sizing your images for the web? I do it myself in photoshop, and wherever I post them they seem to look the same size as I see them on my computer.

I think there are 2 effects - pixels and quality. I think the standard for a square layout is to be made 600x600 pixels and a resolutions of 72. But I always do Save for Web option in PSE7 ...

I do either 400 x 400 or 600 x 600 pixels. 600 makes the LO fill a large portion of my screen, but only one image will show if you try to do them side by side. 400 is a bit smaller and generally allows two LOs to show side by side. - so I do 400 for my Life 365's.

100 x100 would probably show up smaller like a thumbnail.

Then the quality is the other effect. Changing this gives a clearer or grainier look to the image. I think the upper limit for filesize is around 150 kb, so I set the quality to whatever number makes the file size acceptable.

Hope that helps, and isn't just more confusing. If you have a Save for Web feature I suggest playing around with it - try different pixels (300x300 and 600x600 etc) to see if you can get the hang of it.
